TEMPE, Ariz. – June 18, 2009 – ESS, the leading provider of Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management software, today introduced Essential Gateway™, a set of new interoperability applications for the Essential Suite® sustainability platform that drives efficiency by simplifying the acquisition and validation of data from diverse enterprise IT systems.
To fulfill their greenhouse gas, sustainability and compliance reporting obligations, organizations must collect and process a wide variety of data from Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), process historians, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Many global organizations use a combination of custom-built integration tools and manual data entry to manage sustainably information. Both approaches can be counterproductive – adding complexity, risks and costs – at a time when compliance, verification standards, and economic pressures are escalating rapidly.
Designed, built and supported by ESS, Essential Gateway applications eliminate the need to develop "one-off" custom import tools or re-key data by fully automating the exchange of information between multiple enterprise IT systems and the Essential Suite platform. Essential Gateway saves money and time up front by leveraging a company's investments in existing enterprise IT systems, while simplifying the implementation of Essential Suite and eliminating the need to maintain or upgrade homegrown import tools. Essential Gateway continually scans mapped data in source systems, then applies user-defined validation rules before seamlessly importing the corrected data into Essential Suite, where it joins the enterprise master data set for EH&S sustainability management.
Essential Gateway for Work Orders™ and Essential Gateway for Process Data™ are the first of ESS' groundbreaking new applications that are currently available.
"Nearly 20 years ago, ESS introduced integrated EH&S software applications to the market," said Robert Johnson, ESS President and CEO. "Essential Gateway continues ESS' tradition of providing innovative solutions that enable our clients to access and leverage EH&S information more efficiently in order to transform enterprise sustainability management challenges into opportunities for competitive advantage."
