Sustainability Software Leader ESS Continues Initiative to Attract Industry's Top Talent, Appoints Respected Veteran Greg Stevens to Strengthen Partner Ecosystem

TEMPE, Ariz. - December 4, 2008 - ESS, the leading provider of Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and
Crisis Management software for enterprise sustainability, is continuing an initiative to solidify its industry leadership by acquiring top domain and software technology talent. In support of the initiative, ESS has appointed longtime EH&S industry veteran Greg Stevens as Director of Business Development.

Stevens will manage consulting and technology partnerships for ESS' Global Partner Ecosystem. He brings more than two decades of experience in EH&S compliance, software technology and strategic alliances that will position businesses to meet their key sustainability goals for GHG/carbon management, environmental compliance, health & safety management, corporate responsibility and crisis management.

"In today's business climate, information technology investments must deliver enhanced value by supporting companies' efforts to streamline EH&S business processes, eliminate disparate legacy systems and reduce operating costs," said Robert Johnson, ESS President and CEO. "ESS software products are supported by a team with vast EH&S software experience—the most in the industry—that delivers sustainability solutions to meet companies' urgent business requirements."

Before coming to ESS, Stevens served as Director of Business Development for a major U.S. systems integration firm. He led its North American asset optimization sales and partnering initiatives and advised customers regarding EH&S technology, process safety and equipment health monitoring issues. Stevens also served at Environmental Technology, Inc. and Radian (later acquired by URS). His background includes consulting for the oil & gas, chemical, aviation, food processing, forest products and defense industries and ground-breaking research that enhanced acid rain removal for the electric utility industry.

Stevens holds a Master's degree in chemical engineering from Michigan State University and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Spring Arbor College.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to join ESS," Stevens said. "I look forward to the opportunity to expand ESS' market awareness and quality of deployments by enhancing our partner relationships and capabilities.  There is not another company in this space that has a more comprehensive solution, nor offers one that is more technically fitting for enterprise deployments than ESS."

Stevens' appointment also validates the success of ESS' partner ecosystem, which delivers value to ESS customers by combining the company's own integrated software solutions, content and services with expertise and complementary products from world-class companies such as Microsoft, IBM, SAP and Oracle.
